Felting wool by hand in Lillehammer, Norway

Wraps, wall panels and dolls made one at a time from wool, silk and thread. Every piece is shaped by hand, so no two are ever alike.

How it began

[The maker’s own story: when and how felting started, what wool means, why Lillehammer. Two or three short paragraphs from the client.]

Today the studio makes wearable art, textiles and dolls, and meets customers at fairs across Norway. Many pieces are one of a kind; others can be made again in your colours.

Techniques

  • Wet felting Wool, soap and warm water become a soft, strong fabric.
  • Nuno felting Merino felted into fine silk: light wraps that drape beautifully.
  • Needle felting A barbed needle shapes wool into dolls and small figures.
  • Embroidery Wool thread on felt for wall panels and details.
